Carnival & Pumpkin Carving

Butterflies & Spiders, 10/28/11

Friday evening was the church Halloween carnival.  The turnout was huge.  The food was good.  I made minestrone soup instead of chili.  The kids had fun and participated in the booths, the costume contest & even the cleanup.  This time I sat back and watched while Paul & the boys helped wash the dishes that had to be used because we had so many people we ran out of paper products!  Everyone seemed to have a great time and the carnival was an awesome success.  Kudos to the planning committee!

Parker's "Most Traditional"

 Saturday we went to Todd & Rachel's for their annual pumpkin carving party.  We brought a classic green salad (complete with avocados, dressing & croutons!) to go with the pizza and homemade vanilla ice cream.  Paul started in on the pumpkin cleaning-out process.  Parker usually likes to do this himself but this year he preferred to play and took advantage of dad's offer to do it for him.  Nice work on these Paul!  And thanks for saving ALL of the pumpkin seeds!!  They taste great.

After a while Paul left to pick up Dallin from basketball practice.  As time passed and he still hadn't returned, I began carving Kyralyn's.  She helped a little bit.  Parker did his own.  When he got there, Dallin decided at the last minute that he wanted a carved one.  He worked on it a bit and I finished up for him. 

It sure is fun to have this tradition.  We all look forward to the time together each Halloween.
